Letefoho Specialty Coffee Roaster in Dili 🇹🇱

Updated: Mar 18, 2023

Timor-Leste, a beautiful, yet rarely visited, country. Fresh independence (since 2002) and fresh coffee. In fact, this coffee is literally grown and roasted right here in Timor-Leste.

Lefefoho is a nice little café, not too far from the beach. I found some very friendly baristas who were more than happy to talk about the coffee and its origins. So what can I say about my Timorese mocha? Well, Timor-Leste is hot as can be, and of course, no air conditioning here. My mocha was coolish as it could be in the sweltering heat. Initial sip was a nice smooth bitterness from the coffee. Unfortunately, the chocolate was barely present, which is surprising given how chocolatey it looked. Regardless, each initial sip felt quite pleasant. However strangely, there was a bit of a burn in the back of my throat, such an unusual aftertaste. Do I recommend? Of course because this is Timorese coffee. Where else could you find such a unique flavor? For this experience, 4 USD (and yes, they use US dollars here).
