Sweet Orange Warung in Ubud, Bali 🇮🇩

Warning! This is not mocha.

While wandering around the rice fields in Ubud, I stopped at a lovely warung (Indonesian for restaurant) for a nice breakfast. I saw on the menu that they had Vietnamese iced coffee (cà phê sữa đá as they say in Vietnam). Curiosity got the best of me, and I wanted to see how this little Balinese warung would interpret it.

It certainly has condensed milk as it should. It was strangely difficult to mix, and because of that, the drink oscillated from extreme bitterness to saccharine sweet. Wildly bitter and acidic, beyond what a Vietnamese coffee should be in my opinion, and the condensed milk just couldn't take the edge off it. But I should have known better. 40,000 IDR (~$2.60) for a strange Vietnamese coffee in the rice fields of Bali.

Regardless, the idyllic view was really all I called about that day.
